Product Description: To use our Metric Thread Repair Kit, first identify the original thread size from the old sump plug. Select the next size up tap, for example, if the original plug diameter is 12 mm, use a 13 mm tap. Fill the flutes of the tap with clean axle/bearing grease and screw it into the sump hole using an appropriate driver. Slowly cut the thread by rotating clockwise by ½ turn and back (anti-clockwise) a ¼ of a turn. This will ensure a good full thread. Once the thread has been fully cut, remove the tap, clean it, and pour engine oil through the engine with the sump plug out to wash out any metal fragments that may have dropped into the engine. Finally, fit the appropriate new sump plug and copper sealing washer and torque it to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification.

Attention: - Taps must be well lubricated during use to ensure a quality thread is cut. - It is recommended to fill the flutes of the taps with grease to assist in lubrication and metal fragment removal. - Wash out the sump to ensure all metal fragments are removed. - If there is any doubt about metal fragments in the sump pan, remove the sump for cleaning. - Ensure enough ventilation and extraction of exhaust gases when running the engine.
